Psalm 77: The Sleepless Psalm
It is late but I can’t sleep
I toss and turn in my bed
Troubles crowd in on me
I cry out to you but I’ve nothing to say
I try to pray but all I can do is moan
Around and around in my mind
spin questions with no answers …
Don’t you love me anymore?
Was I foolish to trust God?
Don’t I deserve your kindness?
It helps to remember
the times I knew for sure that God was with me.
It helps to remind myself
of what I know about you, O God.
You are good and you are great!
The rain falls heavy on the roof
Lightning flashes in the dark and thunder crash
I know that you made the storm
and you are Lord of all, even my troubles.
It is late but I can’t sleep
I toss and turn in my bed
Troubles crowd in on me
I cry out to you but I’ve nothing to say
I try to pray but all I can do is moan
Around and around in my mind
spin questions with no answers …
