The Seagull’s Psalm
Here I am again Lord
perched here
waiting for something to happen.
I’m a bit cross
a bit weary.
The troubles of this life
have ruffled my feathers.
I’m tired of being earth-bound.
I hear the whisper of the air
and lift my face to your freshness.
I stretch my wings
and find a new balance.
Strength returns
and hope
as breeze flows beneath me.
One leap
wings reach for the sky
and I am flying!
I was born for this
to move with you
to lift and turn and rise
on the breath of God.
Here I am again Lord
perched here
waiting for something to happen.
I’m a bit cross
a bit weary.
The troubles of this life
have ruffled my feathers.
I’m tired of being earth-bound.
I hear the whisper of the air
and lift my face to your freshness.
I stretch my wings
and find a new balance.
Strength returns
and hope
as breeze flows beneath me.
One leap
wings reach for the sky
and I am flying!
I was born for this
to move with you
to lift and turn and rise
on the breath of God.
