Falling
"I'm worried that you might fall", she warned.
I stand on the edge. Mustn't fall.
Except that He is with me, dancing with me,
spinning me around, holding my eye,
until under my feet is only space,
a night glimmering with stars.
I wasn't falling, but other things fell away,
tumbling into insignificance,
fear losing its grip, slipping away.
As I cling to Him, dizzy,
wrapped around by Him,
in secret, in darkness,
I am given to you,
you are opened to me.
Need is drawn out of me,
desire, blurring the lines between us,
filling me with lightness,
expanding my heart.
Gently, gently, He drops me down,
till my feet touch ground again
and life is as it was before, my every-day,
except that part of me has fallen into you,
and you into me.
