Mid-life Menagerie



A monkey’s in my bedroom

and a vulture’s at the window.

A crocodile is in the bath,

a lion’s in the meadow!


I’m sure that once upon a time

everything was normal

then just like that it suddenly

was topsy turvy turmoil.


Please tiptoe round the elephant

who’s standing in the room.

Pretend that nothing’s happening

or you’ll wake the kangaroo!


Excuse me while I gather bits

of china off the floor

and don’t step in the smelly mess

that’s splattered by the door.


We’re coping rather well I feel

with all these odd surprises

It’s just a boring very normal

mid life crisis!
