Peter's Wife
"Peter had a wife?!" ... this is what people generally say when I tell them that I am writing about Peter's wife.
Yes he had a wife!
So ... who was she? What role did she play in the growth of the earth church? How did she feel about Jesus?
For various reasons (which I go into if you can be bothered reading that far!) I became fascinated by this woman, and I have written about her.
'Peter's Wife's Story'
This is a narrative imaginative piece consisting of letters that this woman MIGHT (alright probably not but it was a way for me to connect with her) have written during her life.
I have added into that some historical and Biblical notes setting her story in context and discussing the various Biblical references to her.
It concludes with 2 'postscripts' which explain my personal passion for this woman's story and why it came to matter to me. No doubt this tells you a lot more about me than about some woman 2,000 years ago but there you have it.
Peter's marriage and why it matters
This article is a reflection on the church's understanding of marriage and why it matters that we engage with the church founders and authors of scripture, including Peter, on marriage.
And finally, a sermon drawing all these threads together:
Sermon on Peter's Wife: the woman we never quite meet
