Psalm 87: The Census Psalm

Every person living in our country is recorded
in a big list of everybody
and it says where each person was born.
I was born in Fiji. My husband was born in Wellington.
Where were you born?
 
The Christian faith was born in Jerusalem,
where Jesus died and was raised to life.
In Jerusalem the ancient city on Mt Zion
had springs of fresh water inside the city wall.
 
No matter where you were born,
you are counted, you are home
inside the heart of God.
Dancers dance and singers sing:
“The Spring of Life is in you!”
