Slow things

Lord, speak to me of slow things -
rocks
glaciers carving mountains -
when I want instant answers, success now.
All the ‘fast’ things -
bees & blossom, cheeters & rabbits -
burst into speed only because of long systems.
As glaciers melt, earth quakes and rocks crack
I struggle to live in Your time -
You who are beyond time,
alive in every moment, every millennia,
beginning and end, source and goal.
 
How are you evolving me in this moment?
I like to run up stairs, drive over the limit,
try to do twice as much as I have time for.
Teach me patience, train me for endurance
and give me energy for sprints when required.
 
The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness
humility and self control. (Gal 5:22)
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have put to death their passions and desires
[bad habits, familiar lies, driving whims]
 
Yes, Lord, be in charge
be the slow beat and the bursts of staccato.
