Psalm 67: All you peoples praise!
(a global Call to Worship)
God, our God, be good to us and bless us
make your face to shine upon us
make your ways known in all the earth
show your saving power in all the nations.
God, our God, has been good to us and blessed us
God is blessing us now and will keep on blessing.
All you peoples – praise our God!
All you nations – be glad, sing for joy!
For God rules with justice and peace
and guides all the nations
God brings forth goodness on the earth.
All you peoples – praise our God!
To the very ends of the earth –
honour and rejoice in God!
(Note: Verse 7 has a particular significance for New Zealand, as we are literally “the ends of the earth”! Our ancestors who came here were very aware of their journey to the ends of the earth, as far as they could go from home and family (which in my family’s case was in England & Denmark). I also honour the missionaries who carried the gospel to Aotearoa in order to live out the proclamation of Psalm 67: “Let all the ends of the earth revere him!”)
