Psalm 55: Betrayed by your best friend
Trouble, trouble, all around, noise and bother and strife! Help me, God! I am stressed out! I wish for wings! How I wish I could fly up into the quiet air, far away from all of this. I would soar until I find a safe place to hide from the storm. I could handle being attacked by my enemies but this is my best friend who has turned against me. We used to love being together but now her heart is hard, and it hurts. She spoke sweetly but she stabbed me in the back! So much for promises! So much for friendship! Help me, God, I let all my troubles fall on you. I trust in you, for you are my security, my saviour and my truest friend. |
