Psalm 15: Be Do-ers of The Word
I bet James loved Psalm 15. It has the word “do” 6 times as well as other words like “walk”, “speak”, “stand”. “Do what is right” is the theme. (v2) “Be do-ers of the Word” is James’ theme. (James 1:22) Live it, don’t just think it. What will I ‘do’ today? Will my words and choices my habits and decisions come from a place of abiding in God’s presence? Careful, though - don’t think for a minute that ‘doing right’ is demanded as an entry ticket into God’s tent. There’s no way we can ‘do’ God’s ways without God’s Spirit. The more we ‘dwell in the tent’ (v1) the more we live well the more we look like Jesus and Jesus sustains us and grounds us until we can ‘never be moved’ (v5) from his love and power in all we do. |
Psalm 15: Truth telling
If you want to walk tall in the ways of the Lord you have to hold on to what matters the most. The truth is the truth, there’s no getting round it, the truth can’t be twisted, invented or fudged. If you want to be trusted, admired and respected then do what is right and say what is true. |
