Kua heke te ua: A prayer after a flood
Kua heke te ua
The rain has fallen -
not soft and gentle
but overwhelming.
O God, we bring to you
our prayers for those affected by flood -
as dirty water filled the streets
and rushed into homes and businesses.
Lord of love
Te Ariki o te aroha
bless and sustain all those dealing with flooding.
He pōuri te ngakau
Our hearts are heavy.
We fear that as the climate changes
flood will come again.
We bring you our worries for the world.
Lord of peace
Te Ariki o te rongo
bless and sustain us with the peace only you can give.
Kororia ki a koe
Glory to you, gracious God.
In our suffering we know your mercy.
In our grief we know your comfort.
We bring to you our trust and our service.
Lord of strength
Te Ariki kaha rawa
bless and sustain your world.
Be with us, protect us and lead us, we pray,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
